2021 Annual Meeting Reminder

2021 Annual Meeting Reminder

The CLC will be hosting its annual meeting on Saturday, September 18 at the Moose Lodge, 22 Fourth Street in Aitkin.  Social starts at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting promptly at 9 a.m.

The CLC will host a food drive to benefit the Aitkin Food Shelf.  Items appreciated this year are soup, stew, chili, chow mein, macaroni and cheese, cereal, tuna, baked beans, Rice A Roni, vegetables, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, cookies, cake mixes, candy and peanut butter. Please – no outdated items!

Zebra Mussels

On Tuesday, September 7, a team of volunteers from Cedar Lake partnered with Blue Water Science to conduct a visual inspection of the lake to search for additional zebra mussels.

This search was conducted across 14 tracts of the shoreline in approximately 1’-3’ deep water with Blue Water Science doing some areas using scuba gear in slightly deeper water. The search yielded the discovery of 12 zebra mussels with varying age ranges indicating that they have been present and reproducing for at least two years. During the inspection, read more…

What Does the Word “Cabin” mean to you?

Cabin World means something different to everyone. Thoughts from Bob Karls, Cedar Lake Conservancy Board Member

The use of the word “cabin” does not refer to a specific physical description or object. Our first cabin would have fit inside one-third of one floor of our second cabin, which we’ve been in since 2004. Our first cabin was seasonal with a wood stove and a water well that hibernated for seven months of the year. They are both cabins (and both in the Aitkin area).
